Abigail Rhodes comes a fairly wealthy family in California who rejected her inheritance at a shot at making her own life, running away and joining Starfleet Academy at the first shot she got. Well there she excelled at tactics and organization, a knack she had learned from playing war games with brothers and from her father Charlie Rhodes, who made his money is shipping. She has a tattoo of broken chains on her left arms with the words Freedom in between the broken links to signify her dropping her family ties.
