Gameplay Positions

Game Manager (GM)

It is the Game Manager's responsibility to establish game policy. The Game Manager is responsible for the hiring of the Administrative positions (FMs, SMs and other managers).

Fleet Managers (FMs)

FMs are senior staff that manages entire fleets consisting of several starships and stations. Their responsibilities include personnel transfers and reassignments, and managing staff and player issues, questions and concerns.

Ship/Station Managers (SMs)

SMs are hosts responsible for Game operation. Their responsibilities include providing game materials, managing the game environment, and maintaining game quality and player satisfaction.

  • Game Materials - Before each mission begins, a SM will provide a player with mission orders which detail the objectives of the mission. The SM may also provide additional information to players whose characters will have important roles during the mission.
  • Game Environment - During each Game session, a SM will communicate information about events that are taking place. When characters react to these events, the SM will then communicate the result of character actions to the players.
  • Game Quality - During each Game session, a SM will prevent visitors from disrupting the mission. The SM will also monitor the Game session for Terms of Use violations and take action to prevent future violations.
  • Player Satisfaction - At all times, a SM will provide an open forum through which players may ask questions, make comments, and submit suggestions. The SM will respond to all such correspondence.
  • Promotions and Demotions - After a specific time, to be decided by the SM, he will evaluate the players and characters. The Game Manager has the final decision on any promotion and demotion (including field promotions) of characters.

Training

Training Manager (TM)

The Training Manager is responsible for assigning new recruits into a training class, following up with graduated cadets for assignment, dealing with conflicts in training courses, and hiring new trainers as needed.

Trainer (TR)

ST:EQ's corps of Trainers are responsible for initiating new recruits to the particulars of game play in the game. This includes teaching basic things such as protocols, post formats, familiarity with position titles, and the chain of command. Trainers should also familiarize their cadets with the resources available to them, such as the wiki, the website and the forum. Trainers act as pseudo-SMs during an example mission as new cadets familiarize themselves with gameplay.

Administrative Positions

Game Manager (GM)

It is the Game Manager's responsibility to establish game policy. The Game Manager is responsible for the hiring of the Administrative positions (FMs, SMs and other managers).

Chief Moderator (CM)

Tarlisea

The CM is a senior staff member whose responsibilities includes moderating staff and player issues, questions and concerns, in addition to monitoring the game boards.

Personnel Manager (PM)

Tarlisea

The Personnel Manager is the overseer of most game functions related to characters outside of their individual ships. He is responsible for approving the character biographies of graduates from ST:EQ's training program, assigning graduates to their initial ship or station, approving intervessel transfers, and approving any character biography changes. He frequently works closely with the Training Manager.

Under the supervision of the Game Manager the Personnel Manager is responsible for enforcing all rules governing characters.

Commanding Officers (COs)

The Commanding Officer is always held to a higher standard than any other position. The CO is the mainstay of the crew and is often the barometer of the crew's moral and enthusiasm. It is the responsibility of the CO to set an example for the crew at all times, both in character and out, by getting the Mission Briefing out and posted on time. The actions of the CO reflect on the ship/station and the crew and is often the basis of judgment on the caliber of the crew.

Executive Officers (XOs)

The Executive Officer is the second in command and must maintain a high standard of excellence. They are mentors for the crew and support for the CO. They provide a solid base and help instill a solid front for the command staff. Many times the CO will need to rely heavily on the Executive Officer and a relationship of trust and respect between the two is paramount.
