Background
Early Life
The son of Rear Admiral Andrew Schofield and Commander Monique Rousseau (retd.), Jethro is part of a family with a long history of illustrious service, rumored to stretch right back to the World War II US Marine, Michael Schofield. Whilst he was born in London, Jethro accompanied his father, and occasionally his mother, as they completed various postings close to Earth. When his schooling began, he soon proved adroit at problem solving, taking home the school prizes for PE, Mathematics and Computer Science. Jethro also managed to become the leader of the local cadets organisation, attaining the rank of Cadet Under Officer.
The Academy
Following his family tradition, Jethro was then selected attended Starfleet Academy, majoring in astrophysics and, unusually for a pilot, history. It was at the Academy that Jethro was on the receiving end of a computer weapons malfunction, causing him now to bear a diagonal scar across his right shoulder. The incident itself was classified, and Jethro has never brought this incident up publicly. Graduating fifth in his class, Jethro was selected for the Academy's honour squadron, whilst still holding the rank of Cadet.
Starfleet Career
Recognised as a gifted pilot and leader, he was soon pushed from the fighter squadrons into other areas of the service, including his current posting as the Flight Control Officer of the USS Equilism on its mission in the Delta Quadrant. There are rumours that he is on the 'fast track' for Admiral, and though he has denied these claims, he has acknowledged that he is a career officer like his father.
A New Era
Schofield's individual actions during the ship's first mission include piloting the Equilism to Menir IV at close to the ship's top speed (~ Warp 9.7) and placing her into geosynchronous orbit for the retrieval of the crashed USS Caliban. On the order of Captain, Schofield was then tasked to fly 'shotgun' for the recovery teams due to the intimidating presence of 100 foot tall worm-like creatures. However, he was able to transport two of the three survivors to the Equilism before the recovery teams could enter the plant's atmosphere, and the creatures could attack the stranded personnel, before returning to the crash site for the last survivor. Daringly, the last survivor was beamed from the digestive tract of one of the worm-like creatures and transmitted to the Equilism in a dash to the ship before the transporter buffers wiped. All the USS Caliban members survived the rescue operation and were returned to Kemaris Station.
Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are
Upon returning to Kemaris Station, the Equilism was tasked to explore a protostellar nebula, 4 light years from the station.
Personal Life
Jethro, often breaking the stereotype of a pilot or 'flyboy', regularly using his off-duty time to meditate, explore his ship or give a hard session on the treadmill rather than immersing himself in their 'jock' culture. Jethro possesses a sharp mind, a cool head under pressure and commands high regard from the enlisted men who serve under him. His hobbies include building model aircraft ("for the heck of it"), meditation, long distance running - his best time for the London Marathon is 2:12 - and reading generally. Jethro has consistently rated John Glenn, the first American in Earth orbit, as an idol of his on psychological reviews.
Whilst remaining unmarried, he has had a series of intimate relationships during and immediately after his time at the Academy. Jethro's current girlfriend is civilian Estë Laurent, residing in London.
