Phycological Report

Stardate 10808.19

Over the last day, Chief Counselors Rix Albrun, Junior Counselor Amei Niral and Junior Counselor Talitha Sing Mei have observed and talked with the survivors of the Starfleet vessel USS Caliban. Despite the short time in which to conduct our counseling duties, we have tried to make our report is thorough and as accurate as possible.

The survivors of the USS Caliban – Commanding Officer Joshua Turner and Gunnery Sergeant Matthew Muller – have identical psychological conditions:

1. Hallucinations. After being stuck on the planet for approximately ten years, both Caliban crewmembers suffer from hallucinations. This is due to them missing family and also the result of colleagues being killed by the reapers and giant worms which inhabit the planet.

2. Mood disorders. Both survivors suffer from a variety of mood disorders: depressed mood, manic episodes and mixed episodes. The varying moods of the survivors can be explained by the absence/miss of their family members and colleagues, colleagues being killed by the worms and reapers on the planets surface as well as the continuous attempts by the remaining USS Caliban crew to escape from the planet’s surface and head back to Federation territory.

3. The two survivors also suffer from anxiety disorders. This is the result of failed attempts to escape from the planet’s surface as well as their continuing struggle to survive on the planet due to the presence of the aforementioned greapers and worms.

Despite the psychological conditions described in this conclusion, the respective patients seemed well-aware of their surroundings and their medical condition after they were revived from coma. Nevertheless, the Counseling department must conclude that, due to their psychological condition, Joshua Turner and Matthew Muller are unfit to resume duty. We recommend Joshua Turner and Matthew Muller be repatriated to Earth – where the means to treat their conditions are far better than here in the Delta Quadrant – to undergo more extensive diagnostic testing and treatment.

Ship History

On Stardate 9809.23 the USS Caliban was dispatched on a mission to keep the peace between the Romulans and the Klingons. This took place at the Romulan/Klingon border near Federation space. During a battle the USS Caliban got reported missing. Starfleet searched the area after the battle, but found no sign of the ship.
